Sending A FAX

Select the Chooser from the Apple menu and make sure SDFax is selected. Launch your favorite word processor and load the document you wish to fax. You may wish to select the Page Setup item in the File menu before printing. From the Page Setup dialog, you can select paper sizes and Portrait/Landscape orientation.

Print your document. You will see a standard print dialog as shown to the right. The paper size and layout will be listed and you may select the range of pages to print from this dialog.

After clicking OK, your document will be spooled to a spool file in the Print Monitor Documents folder. The SDFaxSpooler will then be launched and prompt you to address the fax.

You will be prompted for information about the fax you are sending. (this dialog is shown below) You will need to supply several pieces of information.

Each fax number may have a separate Delivery method. You may select TPC, HylaFax, e-mail or Save to file from this menu. Multiple recipients may be added, each with any of the delivery methods you wish.

Further configuration about each delivery method is available in the Chooser dialog.

Click the OK button to spool and send your fax.

After completing the first fax number in the previous dialog, you will see the address list dialog. You may add and remove addresses from the list to address multiple recipients.

Check the Cc: Self checkbox to e-mail a copy of this fax to yourself.

Check the Delay Sending checkbox to send the fax at a later date and time. If you select this option and quit the SDFaxSpooler application, you will need to restart SDFaxSpooler at a later time in order to send the fax. This is useful if you wish to spool several faxes, and then send them when you have a phone or LAN connection.

When you have added all the fax numbers to the list that you wish to send, click the Ok button to begin processing.

Note: The trial copy of this software will only allow single recipients. The multiple recipient feature is only available in the fully licensed software version.

Once the fax is spooled for processing, you can view the job progress in the spooler dialog as shown to the right.

The spooler will automatically exit if it is left in the background, and all spooled faxes have been completed.
