Rewind Print Job

QView Pro can interact with Novell's pserver.nlm or pserver.exe. If your network is using pserver or a compatible print server, QView can display the Printer Control Dialog box. From the printer control dialog box, you can rewind a print job. This is useful when a print job needs to be reset or pages are lost. Pausing the print job before selecting this option is generally a good idea.

Bytes Printed This item in the dialog box shows the number of bytes printed so far. The printer may buffer several thousand bytes, so this number may be further into the print job than the printer is actually printing.

Copy Number If multiple copies of the print job were requested, this item will show the number of the current copy, and the number of copies remaining. If you use the Rewind to Start of copy option, you can adjust which copy to rewind to by changing this number.

Binary/Text print data This item shows the type of print job that is being printed. Text jobs are regulated by the number of lines printed and the number of lines in the currently mounted form.

Start of copy Selecting this option will allow you to rewind the print job to the start of the current copy, or whatever copy you request in the Copy Number field above.

To Page If the print job is plain text, you can rewind to a specific page number in the job from the start of the current copy, or whatever copy you request in the Copy Number field above.

From Start If the print job is Binary (Byte Stream) you can rewind the print job to a specific point in the queue data file. This option will rewind the job to the specified number of bytes from beginning of the job, for the current copy or whatever copy you request in the Copy Number field above.

Back x Pages If the print job is plain text, you can rewind the job a specific number of pages from the current position. This option is useful when a printer jams while printing a large run of address labels. You can rewind the job by a few pages, and readjust the printer lineup to recover from the jam.

Back x Bytes If the print job is Binary (Byte Stream), you can rewind the job a specific number of bytes from the current position.

Rewind Click on this button after you have selected the appropriate rewind method and completed the optional data for the method you chose. The job will be rewound immediately.
