Queue Control OptionsThe Queue Control Options dialog box allows you to change some basic monitoring features for each print queue window. Below is a sample of the dialog box. Window Title: The text in this field will be displayed in the title bar of the print queue window. By default, this is the print queue name; however, you may change it to anything you would like displayed. This feature does not change the print queue that is scanned for information. This feature can not be set when multiple queue windows are selected. Log File Name: The log file name is the file which you wish to have queue activity recorded in. This file name must be in a directory that exists (no directories are created). For more information about the format of this file, review the Log File Format section of this manual. The Log Activity To Log File option must also be checked for information to be recorded to the log file. You must have queue operator status for this feature to work. Open window on startup: By default, open queue windows are restored from the qvieww.ini on startup. If this check box is unselected, the queue window will not be opened when QView Pro reads the ini file. If the queue window is opened manually, the settings in the ini file are still read. This can be used to set the features to be used for each queue window when the user manually opens them. Pause Incoming Jobs: This feature is useful when QView is scanning queues for offending jobs such as Oversize jobs, Overage jobs, or Duplicate print jobs. With this option, print jobs are placed on user hold as soon as QView detects the job in the queue. When the job finishes spooling, QView will scan the job for offenses, and take action as needed. After QView has completed this check, the user hold on the job is released and the job is allowed to print. If you are scanning queues for offending jobs, this option should be checked. Hold Incoming Jobs: When this feature is checked, QView will scan the print queue for print jobs that have been added to the queue. When new jobs are found, a user hold is placed on the job. After the job has finished loading, a Queue Operator or the job owner may release the hold on the job. This feature is useful when you have special paper trays that need to be exchanged in your printer. An operator can place the appropriate paper in the printer and release the job. If you have a vending card device attached to your printer you can use this feature to regulate which print jobs are allowed to print on each user's vending card. Log Activity To Log File: When checked, print queue activity is recorded in the log file specified in the Log File Name box. You must have queue operator status for this feature to work. Job Delay Time: QView can delay offending print jobs such as Oversize, and Duplicate print jobs. This option allows you to set the amount of time in minutes that the jobs are delayed. Only offending jobs are delayed. This feature does not affect every job. You must also configure an offending job option to make this feature active. Job Schedule Time: QView can reschedule offending print jobs such as Oversize, and Duplicate print jobs. This option allows you to set the time the jobs are to be printed. Only offending jobs are delayed and not every job in the queue. You must also configure an offending job option to make this feature active. Apply>> Click on this button to update the settings of each selected queue window in the Queues listbox. Multiple queue windows may be selected. Changing settings for (Default Settings) will affect any new queue windows that are opened. |
