Log File FormatQView Pro can keep a log of print queue activity. This feature is controlled from the Queue Control Options dialog box. You must have queue operator status for this feature to work. If the specified log file does not exist, a new file is created. The first line of the new file contains a list of column headers. Each remaining line has data in the following order. Columns are separated by tabs (ASCII 0x9) and have a CR/LF mark on the end of the line. Client: The Client name is the name of the NDS/Bindery object that placed the job in the queue. This may be the QView Operator if the job was moved from another queue. BannerName: The banner name is the owner of the job as supplied by the client. This can be set with the capture command line as "capture /name=MyUserName /nb". The /name option sets the banner name, and requests banner pages for printing; /nb suppresses banner page printing. For Macintosh computers, this is usually the name set for the computer in the File Sharing control panel. JobNumber: This is the unique print job ID number that the print queue assigns the print job. JobType: The job type is the same as the form number used with print job definitions. The default is 0. FormName: The form name is the name set in the printdef database for the form type. The default is "STANDARD". FileSize: The file size of the queue job data file in bytes. ClientStation: The connection number of the client when the print job was submitted. Flags: The flags option is used for several items available in the Print Job Details Dialog box. Several letters make up this field: B = print banner, F = form feed, N = notify user after printing, T = text (not byte stream), L = logged by QView (scanned for offending jobs). Copies: The number of copies requested. EntryDate, EntryTime: The time the job was created in the queue in the format MM/DD/YY HH:MM:SS. ScanDate, ScanTime: If the job was scanned by QView Pro for offending jobs, these fields will report the date and time the check occurred. The format is MM/DD/YY HH:MM:SS. Duplicate OverSize OverAge: If the job was scanned for offenses, these fields will report any offending jobs. Entries include Y or N. ActionTaken: If an offending job is detected, the action taken is recorded here. Entries include: Delayed, Scheduled, Held, Reordered, Moved, Deleted, and Found (ignored). PrintDate, PrintTime: When QView detects a print job being printed, the date and time are recorded. It is possible, however, that a fast print server may service and remove a job from the queue before QView can obtain information about which print server is servicing the job. If this happens, this field will not be accurate. The format is MM/DD/YY HH:MM:SS. PrintServer: The print server that serviced the print job. If a job was serviced, aborted, and serviced again, the last print server to service the job will be recorded. It is possible that a fast print server may service and remove a job from the queue before QView can obtain information about which print server is servicing the job. If this happens, this field will not be accurate. Printer#: If the print server supports remote SPX connections (such as Novell's Pserver) the number of the printer will be recorded when the PrintServer name is obtained. The Show Print Progress option must be enabled for this feature to work. ExitDate, ExitTime: The date and time the print job was no longer found in the queue. This field does not imply the print job was successfully printed. This will also report jobs that have been deleted, or unsuccessfully printed and aborted. The format is MM/DD/YY HH:MM:SS. JobDescription: The description name from the print job. QueueName: The full name of the print queue the job was located in. This allows you to record multiple queue windows to the same log file. Remarks: Remarks about the print job are recorded in the last column. If a job is moved or deleted by the user running QView, a remark will be included in the log file. |
