Job List Columns
The Job List Columns dialog box allows you to
configure the information displayed in the print queue
windows. The display across the top of the dialog box
approximates the appearance of the queue window list.
Each column in the display is set with the appropriate
combo boxes (drop down lists) and the adjacent width
field.

Column Information QView Pro can
display several columns of information. The combo boxes
allow you to select the information to be displayed in
each.
The Banner Name is the name that
will print on a banner page if enabled. This is
usually the name of the user, and is preserved if the
print job has been moved between queues.
The Client Name is always the
object that created the print job in the print queue.
However, it may not reflect the original owner of the
job. If a user moves a print job from one queue to
another, the new job will have the client name of the
user running QView Pro, and not the user who
submitted the original print job.
The Form Number and Form
Name are set by the user who submitted the
print job to the print queue. These are often used to
control the paper type loaded in the printer. The
default form is #0 "Standard"
The print Job Description field
is used to describe the contents of the print job.
Most DOS users will show LPT1: Catch for this field.
Macintosh and Windows applications often supply the
document name and the application used to print it.
The field for Job Entry Time
shows the date and time the print job was created. If
a job is moved to a new print queue, the Job Entry
Time will reflect the time when the job was moved.
The Job size column will display
the print job data file in bytes. Abbreviations that
are used are K (1000) and M (1000K). The job size
does not directly reflect the number of pages to
print. A plain text file may only be several hundred
bytes and take up several pages. A complex bitmap
graphic page may be several Meg, however.
Print jobs are assigned an ID number when entered
in the queue. Older versions of NetWare use a decimal
version to display this as Job Number (short) while
NetWare v4 or later uses a longer number Job Number
(long) because queues can have more than 256 print
jobs at a time.
The print job's Job Position is
displayed as 1, 2, 3, etc., to reflect the position
in the queue.
The Number of Copies item will
display the number of copies the client has requested
for the print job.
The Print Server field will
display the target print server for the print job. If
no print server is specified, (Any Print Server) will
be displayed. When a print server begins servicing
the print job, this item is updated with the name of
the servicing print server.
If the job is set to print at a specific time, the
Target Print Time column will show the time and date
the job is scheduled to print.
Width The width of the column can be
set in dialog units by entering a number in the width
field, or by using the mouse to size the display at the
top of the dialog box. Dialog units are approximately the
size of pixels.
Show Gridlines This option enables or
disables the spreadsheet like gridlines in the queue
windows.
Full NDS Names With this option
enabled, NDS names are displayed with the user name and
container objects. If disabled, only the user name is
shown. The display of print jobs may not be changed
immediately when this item is checked or unchecked.
Object names are cached so only new print jobs will use
the new settings for this feature.
Typed NDS Names When this option is
turned on, NDS objects are displayed with the object
type. If disabled, only the object name is displayed. An
example of a typed name is O=herzogs.OU=Corvallis. The
display of print jobs may not be changed immediately when
this item is checked or unchecked. Object names are
cached so only new print jobs will use the new settings
for this feature.
Show Print Progress When this item is
checked, QView Pro will attempt to obtain information
from the print server servicing the print job. This can
slow QView Pro while querying slow print servers. Not all
print server software or hardware supports remote
administration. Novell's pserver.exe and pserver.nlm
support this feature.
