Installing QView Pro

This section covers the basic installation of the software on your hard disk or file server.

1) Run the install.exe program on the QView software diskette, or in the zip file. This will create a directory to store the application in. The files installed will be:

qvinsw16.exe Setup/serial number utility

qvieww16.exe The application

qvieww16.hlp The documentation.

The installer will also create a program manager group for the QView Pro application.

2) Run the qvinsw16.exe utility. In the program manager group created by the installer in step one, this is the setup & serial number utility.

If you are installing with NDS services, you must first select a user group.

The default group that will be selected is the QVIEW_OPERATORS group in the current directory context. Use the Set button to select an existing group, or the New button to create a new user group.

3) For each file server that has queues you wish to monitor, click on the install button and complete the install information dialog box. For more details, see the section on Installing a File Server.

4) For each print queue that you wish to monitor, select the queue and click on the install button. For more details, see the section on Installing a Print Queue.

5) Click On the Summary button when you are done to see which servers are installed, and what the status of each is.

6) Quit the installer. Installation should now be complete. You can now run the QView Pro application.
