QView Pro v2 Technical Support

As new versions of our software products are released, changes and updates are made to improve the product. These changes are listed in the file CHANGES.TXT provided with the software on this site. If you are having problems with a specific version, we encourage you to download and install the latest version available on this server. Check the CHANGES.TXT file provided with the software to see if your specific problem has been addressed.

Common Problems

Cosmetic Y2K issues:
Solution: Upgrade to QView Pro v2.35 or later.
Using VLM workstation drivers, an error occurs while moving print jobs from one queue to another.
Solution: Upgrade to QView Pro v2.24 or later.
Using VLM v4.x, an error occurs while opening the qview.cfg file if the user has read only permissions to the file.Solution: Read our FAQ on the net.cfg file.
QView installer qvins.exe complains of duplicate serial numbers with multiple file servers in one Organizational Unit in a NetWare 4 NDS tree. Solution: Upgrade to QView Pro v2.30 or later.
QView Pro v2 (DOS) gives "network shell not loaded" when used with Windows 95.
The Microsoft client software does not support all the interrupts that the Novell client software provides. You can use the NetWare client but you should probably upgrade to the Windows version of QView Pro.
QView Pro v2 (DOS) is being used on a NetWare 4.x server however it can not view all the print queues because some of the queues are not in the server's bindery context. Read the FAQ on Bindery Contexts.

This product was discontinued in 1999. Current users should upgrade to QView Pro v3.x for Windows. Secure Design will not support this application beyond September 1, 1999. The Latest release includes support for 4 digit year dates, and corrects cosmetic problems with Y2k dates. This software has not been evaluated for full Y2K feasibility, however no known Y2k related problems are know at this time. Since this is an older DOS application, the compiler used to generate the application is no longer available (Borland) and was not be able to be obtained in a Y2k compatible version.
